Wayne Art Center- Wayne, PA - Art Quilt Educational Symposium

Lonni will be participating in Wayne Art Center's Educational Symposium where various artists will conduct 30minute demonstrations on special techniques related to the art of quilting. Lonni's demo will be about her Surface Design techniques. Much to learn and enjoy! Contact- www.wayneart.org for Details. WORKSHOPS

Workshops for these topics require at least a 45” square work area for each student. Ten students maximum is ideal. However, if space allows, a class of 18 is manageable.


BASIC STENCILING WORKSHOP
Three Hour Workshop: Learn how to cut a stencil from your own design (or samples I will provide). Featured will be a demonstration of how to stencil on fabrics, and layering ideas using opaque and transparent paints.

Basic Fee to Group: $450 –plus $35 materials fee per student


SILK-SCREENING BASICS
Three Hour Workshop: A brief overview of how to prepare a photographic silk screen. Featured will be a demonstration of how to silkscreen on fabrics, with some of my own screens available for you to use in class. Good pre-requisite class for Silkscreening 2 below.

Basic Fee to Group: $450 –plus $35 materials fee per student


SILK-SCREENING 2
2-Day Workshop

Learn how to make your own photographic silk screens using a Thermofax, and be able to print with them the same day! Come prepared with your own wooden stretchers (to make a 15" square frame) and your own original art on 8 1/2" x 11" paper, printed as a black and white laser copy (from your laser printer) or from a copy machine. Detailed list of supplies and where to buy them will be sent when you register.

Two-day class / 5 hours per day Basic Fee to Group: $1,500  plus $65 materials fee per student; includes Thermofax film, paint and fabric. 12 students maximum. 1-day 6hr. painting or quilting classes available also. $800  Contact livija12@aol.com for details.



LECTURES

WOMAN VERSUS WEATHER
Controlled Spontaneity
Based on experiences in developing her unique "indoor-outdoor" fabric painting style, Lonni will discuss various sources of design inspiration, and ways to use her "typographically motivated" fabrics in your own work. Lots of show and tell, fabric, quilts and design progressions. (no slides) Approximately a 35-minute lecture, followed by show and tell and a question and answer period.

$450 ($350 if combined with a workshop)


DOUBLE HAPPINESS
The Marriage of Graphic Design & Textiles
How and why I do what I do, with type, calligraphy and other graphic symbols of communication, to create my "typographically motivated" multi-processed textiles. This is a "process" lecture that gives in-depth instruction about my design process, sources of inspiration and multiple painting process. Approximately 2 hours.
